About Shoshana Levine LCSW
|
I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Herbert H. Lehman College of the City University of New York in 1972. After being a homemaker, wife and mother of two sons for twenty years I decided to go back to college at the age of forty two. I received my Masters of Social Work Degree from Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare, Stony Brook, New York in December of 1994. I specialized in Alcoholism and Substance Abuse with an emphasis on eating disorders.
Upon graduation from Stony Brook University I worked at Crossings, an Alcoholism and Substance Abuse outpatient agency in Port Jefferson, Long Island. There I worked with adolescents as well as adults in group, individual and family therapy. After working there for two years I went into private practice. I had a thriving private practice for a little over ten years in New York. I gave up my private practice when I made the decision to move to Los Angeles. I am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California and I have opened up a private practice in December of 2007 in Santa Monica.
In September of 1999 I completed my certification in "Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy" in order to have another avenue of helping my clients. I received my Clinical Hypnotherapist Certification from The Wellness Institute in Issaquah, Washington.
In June of 2003 I completed my certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing in order to give my clients an added modality for healing their emotional wounds.
I consider myself an eclectic psychotherapist as I incorporate music, meditation, guided imagery, and affirmations into my practice . I am always looking for new and innovative ways to continue to help my clients. As I have been through my own personal healing journey I have experienced the modalities that I have incorporated into my practice which has helped me to heal my own wounds. It is now my life's purpose to help others heal their wounds. |
